The Awaken the Artist Within workshop will be hosted in Monterey this summer.
The workshop will be led by Erin Lee Gafill, an award-winning artist and writer who also teaches many art workshops to students from around the USA, as well as in Mexico and Italy. In 2009, the Arts Council for Monterey County officially recognized her as a Champion of the Arts for her educational services to art students in underserved locations.
The Awaken the Artist Within workshop will help Monterey locals develop their artistic sides through the exploration of several formats of art and creative expression, including free writing, line art, acrylic painting, torn paper collages, and water coloring. All necessary materials will be available to participants throughout the event. The organizers of similar workshops often use such means as brochure printing to provide those attending with written event references.
Both individuals new to art and established artists looking for a refresher class are welcome to sign up for the event. Tickets for members of the Monterey Museum of Art cost $325 per individual, while registration for non-members are priced at $375 per person.
This event is scheduled to occur at the Monterey Museum of Art on Saturday, July 18 and on Sunday, July 19 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on both days.
