The City of Lancaster will be working with Landmark Infrastructure Partners LP to develop and roll out the FlexGrid Ecosystem solution created by Landmark on property owned by the city.
The FlexGrid Ecosystem is a communication and energy system that enables smart infrastructure technology. The system will have smart LED street lighting, Wi-Fi access backed by fiber, and cellular coverage for residents of the city.
New technologies will also be tested by the city and include such solutions as video and IoT sensor data monitoring, which can further the safety of the public. Flyer printing can be used for such deployments to provide the community with information about such technologies and their benefits on a daily basis.
Mayor R. Rex Parris commented that ‘smart cities are the future’. People’s daily lives have been changed by smart technology which has provided many benefits, conveniences, and efficiencies. Lancaster has become known for its forward-thinking approach to many such technologies and the city looks forward to this partnership with Landmark.
There are 15 sites in the city where the FlexGrid Ecosystem will be deployed first. Being considered are Rawley Duntley Park, the Park and Ride at Sgt. Steve Owen Park, and Lancaster City Hall. The technology introduced will be a 4G/5G Wi-Fi backbone that will be able to support connectivity for IoT and citywide and industrial applications.
