Lancaster seniors receive makeovers

The city of Lancaster has partnered with ProCare Hospice to offer makeovers to local senior citizens as part of the 6th annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Services.

The makeovers will include make up, a new hairstyle and a keepsake glamor shot photo. The services will be provided to patients from the Casa Amore Residential Care Facility and their caregivers on Tuesday, January 22.

Maggie Tortorici, Casa Amore administrator, expressed her gratitude by saying:

“I am so thankful to the City of Lancaster and ProCare Hospice for this generous contribution to our residents and our caregivers who are often times overlooked.”

Stylists Sara Ochoa from Sara’s, Marsha Goins from Marsha’s Chair Salon, and Tiffany Derosier, a makeup artist, have generously donated their time to perform these services to the seniors.

The city of Lancaster has over 30 projects scheduled over 10 days planned in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy.

Other hands on projects include maintenance and paint work at the Artists Lofts on Lancaster Boulevard, as well as repainting and fixing the walls of the Antelope Valley High School’s cafeteria.

Elsewhere, blood donors are needed for the Red Cross blood drive on January 15, 18, and 22. All donation hours are 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm and donors should be aged 17 or older and weigh 110 pounds or more. It is advisable to pre-register by calling (800) 733-2767.

For more information on these projects, call the city’s Parks, Recreation and Arts Department at (661) 723-6077. Flyer printing is one way the organizers could inform local residents of MLK related events and activities.
