Lancaster seeks coat donations for those in need

A winter coat drive is currently underway in the city of Lancaster. The city is partnering with the Lancaster School District to bring comfort and warmth to both children and adults during the upcoming 2023 winter.

R. Rex Parris, mayor of Lancaster, stated that the power of the community could really make a difference this year. He urged everyone to come together as winter approaches, bringing comfort and warmth to those in need. He would like to see Lancaster a place where no one will be without a warm coat this upcoming winter, and added that that the city is grateful to be coordinating this effort with the Lancaster School District.

Lightly used coats for both children and adults can be dropped off at the Lancaster Community Center or City Hall. George’s Cleaners will then professionally wash all coats once the collection has been completed.

The community can be made aware of such coat drives with poster printing. Additionally, flyer printing can make those in need aware of such efforts, and how they can pick up a coat for themselves.

Coats will need to be dropped off by Friday November 10. They will then be distributed by the Lancaster School District at a special event.
All the collected coats will find new homes, and the community will be able to come together to spread goodwill, warmth, and cheer.

The distribution event will take place on Saturday November 18.
