Lancaster forms alliance for deployment of clean hydrogen

The city of Lancaster will be launching the Pacific Hydrogen Alliance (PHA) as part of the United States Department of Energy H2 Twin Cities 2022 program.

This will enable Namie Town of Japan, along with Lancaster, to become mentors for the county of Hawaii on the development and deployment of solutions for hydrogen energy at the municipal level. The benefits of collaborations like this are often disseminated throughout a community with flyer printing.

R. Rex Parris, mayor of Lancaster, said that this partnership will facilitate work on climate change. He expressed his thrill that this partnership will allow for the ability to connect with other cities that have the same goals and see that the potential of hydrogen can change the trajectory of climate change for the future.

Mitch Roth, mayor of the county of Hawai’i, also expressed his pleasure in being able to partner with the cities of Lancaster and Namie through this alliance. He said that clean hydrogen can bring many environmental and economic benefits for the county by providing flexible fuel, and enhance the energy resilience and security of the county.

The project manager for PHA, Lex Heslin, said this alliance is the first program that brings together Japan, Hawaii, and California with technology sharing, municipal master planning, and expedited deployment strategies for hydrogen that will provide multiple benefits for each community.
