Four-year degree to be offered by college in Lancaster

A baccalaureate degree in Respiratory Therapy will be offered by Antelope Valley College (AVC) in Lancaster beginning with the fall semester.

The program will be completely online and will enable respiratory care professionals who have completed an associate’s degree in the field with a low-cost and high-quality alternative for the completion of their bachelor's degree. Brochure printing is often a means for providing more details about such programs.

Director of the Respiratory Care program at AVC, Wendy Stout, EdD, said that current and graduating students have been asking for this program for some time and are extremely excited about it as it will enable them to advance their careers.

Jennifer Zellet, PhD., superintendent and president of AVC, said that this is the second baccalaureate degree offered by the college and demonstrates that the college is dedicated to providing access to education which is affordable and leads to careers that will pay well and benefit not only the students but the community at large.

This baccalaureate degree joins the degree offered by AVC in Airframe Manufacturing Technology and is part of Vision 2030, the strategic plan of the California Community Colleges. One of the three initiatives of the plan is to offer baccalaureate degrees to provide equity in access, success, and support and address equity gaps in higher education.
