Draft document on rail line open for review in Lancaster

The California High-Speed Rail Authority will be holding a public hearing next month in Lancaster on its first draft of an important environmental document regarding a major project to take place in Los Angeles County.

The document discusses a rail project 80 miles long from Bakersfield to Palmdale. This project will provide connections from the County and the Antelope Valley to the Central Valley. The gap in passenger rail service that exists between Northern and Southern California through the Tehachapi Mountains will be closed as a result of this project, and new opportunities for economic revitalization and development will be provided for the cities along the route.

Flyer printing is often used for providing more detailed information about such proposals and their routes.

Among the communities through which this rail line will travel are Bakersfield, Tehachapi, Lancaster, and Palmdale, with stations in Palmdale and Bakersfield. The station in Bakersfield has been approved while the one in Palmdale is in the proposal phase. These stations would be coordinated with land use planning and maximize ridership and provide many options for other modes of transportation, including a possible connection with Brightline Trains in Palmdale.

The public hearing will take place at the Stanley Kleiner Activity Building in Sargent Steve Owen Memorial Park in Lancaster from 3:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 9.
