Club for youth to expand in Lancaster

The services of the Boys and Girls Club of Antelope Valley (AVBGC) in Lancaster will be expanding the services it offers the city. It plans to lease what was once the Lancaster University Center, which was the home of the Antelope Valley Engineering Program of California State University, Long Beach.

The lease agreement for the current location of the Boys and Girls Club on Division Street has been renewed and it has been given a new lease for the former Lancaster University Center, also on Division Street. Banner printing can be used at such sites to inform residents of such planned opportunities for a facility.

The new space will provide increased access to programs that take place after school and over the summer. It will have 12 classrooms for academic enrichment, mentorship, and career readiness and a technology lab to prepare youth with skills for the 21st century. There will also be opportunities for the fine arts, music, and well-being and health programs.

The new space will also serve as a resource for working families, with a nurturing and structured environment for youth during the hours after school so that parents can maintain their employment commitments.

CEO of AVBGC, Jay Duke, said that this facility will enable the club to expand opportunity and hope so that every child has a safe place to learn, grow, and lead.
