Beer wholesaler to purchase distributor in Lancaster area

The Reyes Beverage Group, the largest wholesaler of beer in the United States, has announced the planned purchase of W.A. Thompson, which would make this its third wholesaler acquisition in California this year. W.A.

Thompson operates warehouses in Lancaster, Bakersfield, and Barstow, and offers beverages from Boston Beer Company, MillerCoors, and Constellation Brands, among others.

Tom Reyes, President of the Beer Division West, said he is looking forward to welcoming team members from W.A. Thompson, building new relationships in the local community, and adding this part of the state to its territory in California. Acquisitions of this nature and their benefits are often promoted throughout a community through flyer printing services.

This acquisition will add 2,500 accounts and 7.1 million case equivalents to its subsidiary, Harbor Distributing. In addition to that of Central Coast Distributing in Santa Maria in February and DBI Beverage in northern California in July, this latest acquisition has increased its case business in the state by 37.7 million cases.

About half of the overall volume of Reyes comes from California with close to 98 million case equivalents alone in the state. The company has over 85,000 retail accounts and sells more than 200 million case equivalents across the country. The acquisition of W.A. Thompson is the company’s sixth such transaction in the state since June 2018.

The purchase is expected to be completed next month.
