Edwards Air Force Base (AFB) and potentially Gen. William J. Fox Field in Lancaster will be collaborating on a traditional air show in October.
Brig. Gen. Matthew Higer, 412th Test Wing Commander, said that there will be a hybrid version of the event, with virtual activities and some flights over the Valley. Events such as this one are often advertised throughout a region with poster printing.
Higer added that that there will most likely be a parade of planes being live-streamed and virtual views of the aircraft. He expressed his excitement about this new format as he said there will still be many exciting planes and activities to view, and it will still be able to maintain the science, technology, engineering and math educational aspects of the show that makes for one of its key components.
This event will take place the weekend of October 10, with more details to be released as the date approaches.
Gen. William J. Fox Field will be hosting the Los Angeles County Air Show in October 2021. For this year’s show, Edwards AFB will be providing a supporting role. The more traditional format of the air show at Edwards AFB will take place in October 2022 and will celebrate the 75th anniversary of supersonic flight, with an attendance of over 100,000 people expected.
