The City of Laguna Hills is holding a concert people won’t want to miss.
Radio Royalty will be bringing the hits of the 1980s to downtown Laguna Hills. Audiences will hear songs by Cyndi, MJ, Whitney, Prince, Madonna, and other stars, sung by a group that is unusual for having a woman as the lead singer.
The band got together during the lockdown in Spring 2020, and realized that most 1980s bands are almost all men. Since the group members are male, audiences may not hear many songs from female artists, even though the decade had many female superstars. These artists, who include Taylor Dayne, Whitney Houston, Heart, Janet Jackson, and others, defined those years. Radio Royalty was formed to help pay homage to these dynamic but overlooked artists.
The group concentrates on the hits of the 1980s, especially pop, but not strictly metal or yacht rock. Instead, they play the music as expected—synth keyboards, lush vocals, live sax, even occasional sound effects. They are committed to performing each song authentically, and making the music as danceable as possible, a characteristic for which they are known.
Radio Royalty is comprised of professional musicians who got together simply to share their enthusiasm for the work of this extraordinary decade. Events like this are frequently enhanced when organizers use poster printing methods to advertise them.
The concert takes place at the Community Center & Sports Complex at 25555 Alicia Parkway on July 19, beginning at 6.30 pm.
