Construction at the Pacific City site for the Pasea Hotel and Spa began with a groundbreaking ceremony last month. The Irvine-based company, R.D. Olson, is developer for the property. Once completed, Pacific Hospitality Group will take over the hotel’s management.
If the structure moves forward as planned, brochure printing announcing the opening of the 250-room Pasea Hotel will be ready for the public in the spring of 2016. Among the amenities the hotel will offer are ocean views in every guest room, meeting rooms, a Balinese-themed spa, and a deck on the rooftop.
Robert Olson, founder of R.D. Olson, was quoted in the Huntington Beach Independent as saying:
"We've done some light grading already, but our final grading should finish up by the end of the month. Soon we'll be digging our foundation and getting the ball rolling."
Pacific Hospitality Group and R.D. Olson are both firms with a track record in high-end hotels. Olson developed the Renaissance Club Sport Hotel, the Legoland Hotel, and the Avia Hotel, currently known as Hyatt the Pike. Pacific Hospitality is responsible for the managing the Meritage Collection - a group of four upscale hotels.
Kory Kramer, chief investment officer of Pacific Hospitality, was quoted in the same Huntington Beach Independent article and said:
"It's going to be a fantastic project, and it's going to fit nicely within our Meritage Collection portfolio of hotels.”
