Seven individuals who have had a major influence on surfing were recently honored with an induction into the International Surfboard Builders Hall of Fame.
The Hall welcomed Dick Brewer, Lance Carson, Herbie Fletcher, Bill Frierson, Carl Hayward, Nev Hyman, and Mark Martinson at the Huntington Beach event. Banner printing can provide decorations for events like this.
Dick Brewer is noted for his work with big wave boards, which he began designing and selling in 1960 in Haleiwa, on Oahu's north shore. When he relocated to California, he founded Dick Brewer Surfboards.
Second honoree Lance Carson has been surfing since the age of four, earning a reputation as one of Malibu's top noseriders. He is the founder of Lance Carson Surfboards.
Herbie Fletcher began surfing at the age of 10, and was received his induction to the Surfing Walk of Fame in 1995, followed by the Surfers' Hall of Fame last year. Fletcher produces the film series Wave Warriors.
Bill Frierson started surfing back in 1961, calls himself “old school,” and continues to shape all his boards by hand.
The late Carl Hayward was inducted into the Surfers' Hall of Fame in 2005, and is noted for developing the “twin fin” board.
Australia native Nev Hyman built a surfboard that held 47 people in Australia in 1994. He beat his own record in 2015, when he designed a board that held 66 people off Huntington Beach.
Finally, in 1965, Mark Martinson, won the United States Surfing Championship, and he has starred in surfing films like “Waves of Change.”
