A favorite activity is being revived in Huntington Beach, though in an abbreviated form.
The Huntington Beach Concert Band is once again scheduled to give concerts, though its usual season, which lasts all summer, has been shortened to just two appearances. John Mason founded the band, which is a volunteer community group, in 1973, to give musicians 18 years of age and older an opportunity to share their talents with communities in Southern California via the medium of public performance. The band performs throughout Orange County and has given as many as 15 concerts in a season.
The band has organized the Sunday Summer Concert Series in Huntington Beach, which has been ongoing for almost five decades. The ensemble also enjoys playing a joint concert with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, when the two musical groups perform the 1812 Overture.
People are encouraged to come to the concert and bring their favorite beverages and picnics, along with lounge chairs or blanket, kids, friends, family, neighbors, and everyone they can think of to support the band, which is delighted to be playing in person once again.
The two concerts the band will play this year are scheduled for July 11 and September 5, in the Huntington Beach Central Park, the band’s usual venue. Souvenir programs are popular handouts at events like this and can be created using brochure printing.
