The Ribs, Pigs and Watermelons festival is taking place for three days next month in Huntington Beach. It is a fundraising event for American Family Housing.
The event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, and teams of ribbers will be competing to be named the best of the best. A smaller children’s barbecue competition, Kids Que, is also set to take place. All of the teams will be providing samples of their food to the public.
Other activities that are planned include watermelon and rib eating contests, and a watermelon carving demonstration. A music festival and classic car show, which will take place on the last day of the event, will raise funds for Potters Lane, which houses homeless veterans. The bands set to perform include Pato Banton and the Now Generation, Special Blend, The Main Thing, and Big Bad Rooster.
Guests at this Huntington Beach event must purchase tickets for beer and food, it is likely that a local Stationery printing company will supply the necessary tickets.
Ribs, Pigs and Watermelons will be held at Huntington State Beach from August 5 to 7. Admission for all three days is $9 in advance or $10 at the door for adults and $5 for children between the ages of 8 and 12. Beer tickets are $5 and food tickets are $2 each. Call 714-897-3221 to learn more.
