Huntington Beach to offer wildlife photography course

The Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve in Huntington Beach will be holding a photography course in November.

Bird & Wildlife Photography at Bolsa Chica with Karen Schuenemann is a workshop where photographers can learn about perspective-changing techniques while taking pictures of real animals in nature. The course will feature a live online presentation about photographing wildlife and will later take students to the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. Many birds may be seen during the experience, including western sandpipers, mallards, and black-necked stilts.

The lesson is taught by Karen Schuenemann, a local bird photographer who placed in the National Audubon Contest as a Professional Category Honorable Mention. Her pictures have been featured in notable venues like the London Natural History Museum and San Diego Natural History Museum. Schuenemann is also the owner of Wilderness At Heart Photography. Professionals like Schuenemann may use business card printing to give key contact details to interested clients.

The lecture portion of the photography course will take place on Thursday, November 4 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Zoom, and the field trip to the ecological reserve will occur on Saturday, November 6 from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. Students will get their photos critiqued on Thursday, November 11. The workshop costs $175 and is intended for intermediate photographers. Face coverings will be mandatory for all course participants.
