Huntington Beach to enjoy evening of oldies

Huntington Beach country music lovers will want to attend the Suzy Bogguss concert set to take place in a couple of weeks.

Bogguss will be focusing her song selection on music from her latest album, which contains only Merle Haggard songs.

The musician has had an illustrious career over the last few years. Of the 10 albums that she has released under Capitol Record label, one went platinum and three went gold. She has won music awards from the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music, ASCAP, CMT, and she has a GRAMMY. Also, eight of her singles have hit the top five in country music.

Her last album, entitled ‘LUCKY’ is a compilation of Merle Haggard’s best known oldies. She claims that it is not a tribute album but a collection of her favorite songs that just happened to be written by one person. She especially likes the storytelling element in Merle’s songs. Those who attend should not be surprised if the accompaniment is simply a sparse acoustic guitar that will accent her vocals. Fans may want to bring cameras to get pictures for later poster printing.

The concert is slated for November 12, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm at Don the Beachcomber, 16278 Pacific Highway, Huntington Beach. Tickets will run from $20 to $50.
