Arbor Day celebrates the value of urban and other trees, and in Huntington Beach, a special event has been organized in honor of the occasion.
The HB Tree Society has put together a schedule of activities that it hopes will draw attention to trees, encouraging people to learn about and protect them. There is no charge to participate, and the program of activities is one hour long.
Those who come to the celebration will be able to learn about native tree species as well as why they may be at risk and what they can do in their own personal lives to lend a hand to forest and other green spaces. The function will open with remarks to the crowd and some light refreshments, and the agenda includes a storytelling session, a tree planting, tree tag writing, and a walk to visit some saplings installed last year.
The planners of the morning have asked everyone to wear green to show their support for the cause, and the function is scheduled to be held at 6500 Inlet Drive in Huntington Beach. Information kiosks and tables are often included in celebrations hosted by not-for-profit groups, and a banner printing company will be able to supply decor and other materials.
The Huntington Beach Tree Society will be welcoming all to this special activity, starting at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 5. Admission is free.
