The resulting Huntington Beach Artist Council, the goal of which is to provide a unified voice for local artists to educate the public, is currently holding its second exhibition.
The gallery includes paintings, sculptures and photographs from both prominent and less-known area artists.
Thom Wright, an artist and the chairman of the program, said:
"It's a very diverse show.
"There is no particular subject matter or approach. We look to this particular show as being the most important show of the year because our work is featured, so we try to get our best work in."
All in all, some 147 works are currently on display, with each participating artist having the opportunity to showcase two pieces.
In its one year, the Council has gathered well over 100 members. Still, it takes charity from event attendees and local businesses to make it all work, so no doubt the Council goes primarily to local Print companies for banner printing, program printing, and other items.
According to one artist, Terri Louise:
"It's a group of Huntington Beach artists who have come together to improve the voice of the Huntington Beach Arts Center and make a contribution to the city and unite.”
The gallery will run through December 19 at the Huntington Beach Art Center.Get a Free Quote for Print
