Earlier this month, large crowds gathered to enjoy a fall festival at Saints Simon & Jude Catholic Church in Huntington Beach. This is the 50th year that the church has hosted the celebration, and everyone looks forward to it.
Among the attractions were a carnival-style midway that had rides suitable for both adults and children, as well as games such as ring toss designed to appeal to smaller children. A house of mirrors known as Cindy's Doghouse was another attraction suitable for children and their parents.
As is usual at events like these, people enjoyed a lot of food they probably eat only on these special occasions. Vendors provided Mexican food, hoagies, and pizza, among other treats, while a lemonade stand proved popular.
Different bands played each of the three nights. On Friday, attendees listened to the Ronny George Band, as well as The Fenians, who have appeared at the festival several times, and have many fans in the area.
On Saturday, Mark Easterday & the 40oz Band were on tap, along with Fred Thomke, and Silver Lining. Sunday the entertainment was provided by the church's pastor, Fr. Mondor, who picked up his banjo and joined others in the Forever Young Band to play pop songs.
