Springtime is nearly here Dublin, meaning it will soon be time for the sheep at Forest Home Farms Historic Park to get a trim just in time for the warmer weather.
The farm will be hosting a Sheep Shearing Day, allowing local families to learn more about how naturally sourced wool is produced. They can discover how this fibre can be sustainably produced and meet the sheep who will be getting their springtime haircut.
As well as the sheep shearing, the visitors to the farm will be invited to enjoy food, browsing through crafts and the little ones can have their faces painted. Live music and sheep dog demonstrations are on the agenda, and wool spinning demonstrations and tractor rides will also be on offer. Tickets can be purchased at the gate, and they will be priced at $10 for adults and $5 for kids who are between the ages of four and ten.
Hosting this type of seasonal celebration can give the public a chance to learn more about where the clothes they wear come from. Signs that offer details about the various farm animals, equipment, and buildings can make it easy for the visitors to learn, and these can be obtained from a printing services company in the local area.
Forest Home Farms Historic Park has scheduled its annual Sheep Shearing Day for April 25. Additional details are available on the San Ramon Historic Foundation website.
