A Dublin Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) rep will show how Dublin campers can look after their food in a workshop next month.
An expert guide will show the assembled group how they can use bear Bags and bear canisters to keep their food safe, and they will also be introduced to various methods that can be used to hang supplies so that they will be out of a bear’s reach. This can be an important step in keeping the animals away from a campsite, and can help to prevent unwanted interactions between native bears and human visitors to the back country.
As well as learning how to keep their supplies secure, the attendees will discover other ways they can stay safe when they are in the bear’s home areas. The techniques taught can also be used to keep other small creatures at bay, helping to make camping a safe and stress-free experience.
This workshop is open to campers with all levels of back country experience. Supplying the participants in this sort of session with outdoor activity manuals can encourage them to spend their time in the forest responsibly, and Stationery printers will be able to prepare them.
Dublin REI has made plans to host this learning opportunity on March 7. It is open to both members and nonmembers.
