Dublin residents invited to learn more about community policing
Dubliners who are interested in learning more about law and order in their community are invited to sign up for the Dublin Police Services 2016 Citizens’ Police Academy.
The goal of the academy is to help the public learn about law enforcement and how it operates, to promote a sense of cooperation between residents and the police, and also to encourage citizens to get involved with, and support, law enforcement in their own community.
As part of their instruction, the participants will have a chance to tour the County Crime Lab, as well as the Coroner’s Office, Santa Rita Jail, and also Juvenile Hall. They will also be given an opportunity to sit in on the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course.
Any adult who lives or works in Dublin is eligible to apply for the 10-week program that will be held on Wednesday evenings stating in April. At the end of the program, there will be a graduation. Certificates of completion for courses such as this can be designed and prepared by stationery printers.
Registration is on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and is limited to 25 people. Those who wish to take part must be 18 or over, have a background check that is clear of major offenses, sign a waiver and have approval of the chief of police.
The deadline to register is March 18.
