Dublin area offered free shred day

Shredding sensitive documents can be a helpful step in home security, and Dublin area households will be able to access this service thanks to an upcoming event.

A Saturday morning in August will see a Corodata shred truck roll up to the Livermore branch of the United Credit Union. This service will be on offer free of charge, and the company behind it is Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) no. 18 audited and National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) certified.

The community can take advantage of this offer, and the shredding service will be performed for them while they wait. The organizers have asked participants not to include staples, three-ring binders, plastic, refuse paper, medicine, batteries, or chemicals. It is intended for personal sensitive documents only, since regular junk mail and magazines can be recycled using the municipal system in place.

A community shred gives the public a simple way to help prevent identity theft and clear clutter. These activities are often included in the community guides and Calendars prepared by area Stationery printers to distribute to local households.

The date for this free shredding day is August 19, and it will run from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm. It will be on offer at 4518 Las Positas Road. Anyone who wants more information has been asked to visit its online listing on Patch.com.
