Alameda County’s Library will be hosting its book club in early January. The club will read Paul Kalanithi’s memoir titled “When Breath Becomes Air.” The event is open to anyone living in Almeda Country, like residents from Dublin, Fremont, and Berkeley.
Kalanithi’s memoir details his struggle with stage four lung cancer. He describes his thoughts and story while battling cancer, providing readers with his insights into life and its meaning. For his efforts, Kalanithi was recognized by the Pulitzer Prize committee and was a finalist for the award. Those who want to join the club can borrow a digital or physical copy of the book from any Alameda County library.
The club gathers on the first Tuesday of every month to discuss a book pre-selected for the month. Entrants can engage in discussion and share their thoughts with other members of the club. If entrants want to jot ideas down or share their written thoughts with others, they can also bring materials to write on. Print shops can provide many of the materials needed for sharing ideas like Booklets and paper.
The club will gather on January 5, 2021 between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. The event will also take place online through Zoom, and entrants will receive a link to the meeting via email after they register.
