Neha Pondicherry accomplished what few students have in achieving a 36 on the ACT test.
Only about one student out of a thousand of ACT test takers obtains this perfect score each year. This year, two students at Clovis North High School can boast of this rare achievement, and Neha is the latest.
Another of the school’s juniors, Spencer Howell scored a perfect score in October. Technically, Neha’s perfect score was achieved a month later in November, but she and her parents only received the results toward the end of February.
Neha’s mother, Dr. Devi Pondicherry explained that she and her husband prepared study sessions for their daughter for each of the test’s sections. According to Dr. Pondicherry, Neha spent, over a three-month period, 15 to 20 minutes each day studying the material.
Hiring tutors to assist in preparing for the ACTs is fairly common and tutoring companies advertise using a variety of methods, including flyer printing services.
Neha, a straight-A student, maintains a healthy schedule of extracurricular activities. In addition to being a varsity tennis player, she volunteers at the Hindu Temple of Fresno, the Kaiser Permanente, and the Fresno Chaffee Zoo.
In addition to her perfect ACT score, after taking an SAT prep course, Neha also performed well on the SAT. With the help she got at the Huntington Learning Center in Fresno, Neha scored 2220 out of 2400 on the SAT.
