Clovis show to put irises in the spotlight

A show that will put a popular perennial flower front and center will showcase the talents of Clovis area horticulturalists, and everyone is encouraged to check it out for themselves.

Once used as the symbol of a king of France, irises have a long history of being cultivated for formal, cottage-style gardens and informal paintings alike. The Iris Show, which is being organized by the Fresno Iris Society, will give the public a sneak peek into this diverse group of flowering plants, and local green thumbs may even want to enter one they have grown their own.

The day will showcase many cultivars of iris, and the displays will offer gardening inspiration. There will be subject matter experts on hand to answer questions from the crowd, and the vendor tables will feature potted irises for sale, as well as a selection of other items. The activity is set to take place at the Center Court of Sierra Vista Mall.

Anyone who would like to enter an iris they are especially proud of is welcome to do so at no charge. Award certificates and Corporate Gifts to offer as prizes for a competition can be ordered from area printers.

The 2023 Fresno Iris Society will be offering the public an opportunity to get to know these popular flowers a little better on April 22. Entries will be accepted from 6:30 am until 9:30 am.
