A Clovis neighborhood has really got into the holiday spirit and come together to put on a 16-house synchronized holiday musical light show.
Since 2007, the Toews of Ladera Ranch neighborhood have had an animated or synchronized light show at their house. Each year, they outdid the year before until they realized they could not increase their display any further. It was then that they explored the options of expanding beyond the confines of their own yard. The result is Santa Claus Lane, a 16-house light show extravaganza in Indianapolis Avenue’s 3100 block.
Every evening, beginning November 27 and continuing through December 31, 100,000 LED programmed lights across the neighborhood will put on a show. The light strands, linked wirelessly to the control hub in the Toews’ yard, are synchronized to a dozen musical selections running 60 minutes in total, with each minute representing three to four hours of programming.
The planning for the multi-house light show began last January with a neighborhood meeting. Throughout the year, the Clovis Festival of Lights, a nonprofit, was set up to handle donations. Permits to close the street off were obtained, as well as ones to allow the selling of concessions on walk nights.
Although word-of-mouth may be enough to draw crowds to Santa Claus Lane, a poster printing service can be useful in informing the public that Friday and Saturday are ‘walkthrough only’ nights.
