Bald eagles are powerful birds of prey that are familiar to many. A Clovis area hike will visit them in their natural environment, offering a glimpse into the lives of these predators.
The birds will soon be arriving at the Millerton Reservoir, as this is where they make their winter home. The hike to see them has been described as easy, and will be between two and three miles long.
Judy H. and Judy J. will serve as guides for the hike, and they both have extensive knowledge of bald eagles. They are excited to share what they know with other birders, and all ages can participate. It was explained that, while there is a high chance that bald eagles will be spotted, it is not possible for the organizers to guarantee a sighting.
The registrants for the outing are asked to arrive at the River Center by no later than 8:30 am, and sturdy footwear, long pants, sunscreen, and a bottle of water are all recommended. Binoculars may be available, but the attendees are asked to bring her own if they have them. The activity will take place rain or shine, and Print shops can offer laminated field ID and record sheets which can be utilized as part of this sort of event even if it is wet and rainy.
This free opportunity to meet some of the raptors that call the Clovis area home will be offered on December 21. Anyone who has questions can contact 559-248-8480.
