California Air National Guard salutes Clovis

Last Tuesday, the airmen of the Fresno Air National Guard Base paid tribute to its neighbor, Clovis, for the community support it has shown.

The special event provided a chance for civilians to go on base and see the military personal in action. A highlight of the Cities of Honor program was the official dedication of an F-15 Eagle carrying the city’s crest. That plane will join others in serving wherever military members are needed.

At the dedication, Col. Clay Garrison, 144th Fighter Wing commander, took the opportunity to express gratitude on behalf of the base to the city for it support. In turn, Clovis Mayor Lynne Ashbeck, on behalf of the residents of Clovis, thanked the base and its personnel on the “tremendous value” they have added to the city.

A military base shares many of the attributes of a business and enriches the communities it touches. One attribute military bases and businesses share is their need for Stationery printing services.

Those airmen with close connections to Clovis, who numbered at approximately 150, were particular proud at seeing their two “communities” coming together. With an insider’s view of what the 144th Fighter Wing does, some residents said they felt an even great appreciation for what these airmen do.

Clovis is the sixth Valley city that the Air National Guard’s 144th Fighter Wing has honored.
