13th annual Turkey Trot to be held November 22

The 13th annual Fresno Turkey Trot 5K run and two mile walk will be held at 8:00 a.m. Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Woodward Park in Fresno, just minutes from Clovis.

Proceeds from the event will be used purchase Thanksgiving baskets for needy Fresno families and to help local cross country teams. Last year’s event raised enough money to provide 100 Thanksgiving baskets and to provide donations to East and West High Schools in Clovis and to Buchanan High School.

Packets will be available for pick up at the Mount View Shelter from 6:15 a.m. – 7:30 a.m. Walk in registration will be available at the Sierra Running Company from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18 and from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24. There will be no race day registration.

There will be commemorative medals awarded to the top three winners in each age category and may be picked up at the Mt. View Shelter after 8:30 a.m. There will be no awards given for the two mile walk. No pets are allowed at either of the events and no strollers are allowed on the 5K course.

Parking is available in the Mount View Parking lot and the lots to the north.

Registration fees are $20-$35. Woodward Park is located at 7775 Friant Road, Fresno. For more information call 433-6750. Banner printing is a great way to mark the beginning and ending of the race course and to hold while cheering runners on the course.
