Vale of Leven Hospital

In Alexandria, the Vale of Leven Hospital is once again making the headlines for the wrong reasons.

The GP Out of Hours Service was once again cancelled – meaning that it was shut completely twice during April for various lengths of time.  When the service is closed it means potential patients then have to travel over the Clyde to the RAH or head into Glasgow.

According to some people, the service is being run with too few resources  and too few professionals on call, meaning that when an issue comes up there are not enough people left to run the service.   Alexandria is the main centre for surrounding areas such as Helensburgh and Lomond and people are left with very difficult journeys in evenings and weekends when public transport is not at its most frequent.

Groups of people who are concerned about the level of service can contact local printers to produce leaflets detailing what has gone wrong, when services have been not available and let others know the exact situation by handing out this information to site users.
