New supermarket to open in Helensburgh

Helensburgh is set to get a brand new Morrisons supermarket outlet, after the chain completed the purchase of a site that is currently occupied by rival supermarket Waitrose.

The Waitrose store on Cardross Road in Helensburgh is due to close its doors for the final time at the start of May, at which point Morrisons will be able to start getting the building ready. At the moment, the company, based in Bradford, is choosing to reveal very little about when the new store will actually open. However, Jackie Baillie, the MSP for the town, is calling on them to launch it as speedily as they can.

This is to make sure that residents are able to get the food and other items they need during the ongoing coronavirus crisis. According to the Helensburgh Advertiser, a Morrisons spokesperson stated that:

“We’ve purchased the Waitrose Helensburgh store and will share our proposals for the site once we have finalised our Plans.”

When new supermarkets like this one open they have the option of looking to printing services in Helensburgh that provide banner printing, to help them advertise any special promotional offers they are running.

Having originally been founded as a market stall back in 1899, Morrisons has grown to be one of the largest supermarket chains in the whole of the UK, and now employs around 110,000 people.
