Major Roadwork in Dumbarton

A set of major roadworks in Dumbarton caused traffic chaos last Thursday.  The roadworks were on a major road, the A82 Stirling Road and a section of the road was closed by Scottish Water.  This was for them to carry out some ongoing repairs on the local water network, with a valve repair being the culprit for the road jams.

Fortunately only one lane, on the north side of the A82 was closed.  Local business, Lomond Cars Centre was not impacted as the roadworks did not block their entrance.

Scottish Water were attempting to reduce the impact on early morning traffic by not starting work until just after the morning peak period finished.  They further apologised to all road users who had been impacted by the roadworks and said that they could not have completed the work any quicker.

The A82 is a major through route to the highlands and at this time of year can have a lot more traffic on it due to tourism, apart from it being the only good route for transporting goods to Argyll and the west coast.

Service companies such as Scottish Water can benefit by using local printers to publicise alternative routes with Signs and leaflets.
