Only a few miles out of Alexandria, in a small village called Luss, work has started on providing five new homes at what are affordable rents to local families.
The land, which is owned by a Minuteman Press Helensbugh client, Luss Estates, has donated the ground to be developed.
The local primary school has only a handful of pupils and the provision of this new housing should help combat the loss of families from the area as cheap, affordable family sized homes are rarely available. The 36 week construction programme has not long started and all going to plan, it will end in May 2017. This will result in the area seeing 5 new homes, one of which will be designed as a wheelchair access bungalow with the other four all being three bedroomed properties.
This will be the first new development in the area for quite a while and it is much needed. Locals have in the main been supportive of the development which has seen several major local players having to get together to agree the plan and supply the money / donate the land and progress the idea.
