The man behind this project is Graeme Shearer, who originally hails from Dumbarton. He wants to turn the building that was formerly home to Helensburgh Tech and Hardware into a cafe that would offer both drinks and food. The building in question is situated in West Princes Street.
The hardware store moved to another spot within the town and the unit it used to occupy has been lying vacant ever since. Shearer has indicated that he would open either a cafe or coffee shop there.

The planning agents for this project are Technique Architecture and Design. The company submitted documents supporting the application. According to the Lochside Press, these state that there has been little interest in the space until now, adding:
“The development aims to reinvigorate a key unit adjacent to an important public square within the town centre.”
