Helensburgh is scheduled to play host to a number of talks concerning geographical matters during the remainder of this year, with similar events having proven to be a success in the past.
This series of talks is being put together by the Royal Scottish Geographical Society and has been given the umbrella title of ‘Inspiring People’. In the first talk, an Emeritus Professor of Physical Geography at the University of St Andrews, Colin Ballantyne, will deliver a presentation entitled ‘Scotland’s Mountain Landscapes’. This will look at how these mountains have evolved geologically since the Ice Age, including the impact of glaciation.
It will be followed up by a second talk that is planned for one month after the first one. In this second presentation, Cameron McNeish will discuss his lengthy career exploring the different landscapes of Scotland.
McNeish has presented several programmes covering subjects like mountaineering, including The Great Outdoors, on Channel Four, and The Edge: One Hundred Years of Scottish Mountaineering, which won a BAFTA Award. He is also the author of several Books on the same subjects.
Flyer printing that shops in Helensburgh have produced can be an effective and quick way of advertising upcoming events that are planned for the local area such as these talks.
The first two talks are scheduled for Thursday, September 29 and Thursday, October 27, with more following in the spring.Get a Free Quote for Books
