Helensburgh to get new information hub

A brand new hub that will provide visitors and residents of Helensburgh with all of the information they could require about the town in one place is scheduled to open during the autumn.

The information centre will be called Destination Helensburgh and it will serve to complement to the website of the same name that was launched in July. The intention is for the centre to feature useful items including a directory of tradesmen and other services in the town, information about community organisations, and a regularly updated calendar listing upcoming activities and events.

It will be located on Sinclair Street, in the building that previously housed Helensburgh Heroes until it was shut down two years ago. As well as providing information, the hub will contain a local Wall of Fame and a souvenir giftshop. Promotional Pens and other such items are often sold in giftshops like this.

Speaking to the Helensburgh Advertiser, Professor Michael Baker, who is behind the creation of the information centre, stated that research had shown that the centre was needed, adding:

“We believe promoting the area and providing a one-stop-shop for local information, both online and with a physical town centre presence, will benefit everyone in the community and help to grow our economy.”

Destination Helensburgh is expected to be ready to open its doors to the general public by October, or November at the latest.
