Fundraising bid for student in Helensburgh

A student based in Helensburgh has set up a brand new fundraising campaign, as she tries to raise the money to finance a trip where she will perform voluntary work.

Amelia Murphy attends Glasgow Caledonian University, where she is studying optometry. Now she has been offered the chance – alongside her fellow students – to travel to South Africa and provide people living there with eye-care help. If they make the trip, the students will travel on the Phelophepa Train, which is a free mobile health service in that country.

Before they can think about packing their bags though, they have to find the money to pay for accommodation and travel while they are there. This is why Amelia has set up her fundraiser and she is hoping to secure £1,100 from it.

When it comes to getting the word out about local fundraisers, flyer printing by Helensburgh shops can be useful. This is because flyers can be handed out to people on the street.

The students would be in South Africa for a month, with their trip being divided into two parts. For the first couple of weeks, they would journey on the train and offer their services. The second two weeks would be devoted to tutorials and lectures.

Amelia stated that it represents a fantastic opportunity for all of them. They are due to travel this summer.
