Funding opportunity for community groups in Helensburgh

Community organisations that are based in Helensburgh and the wider area are being encouraged to put themselves forward for potential grants provided by a council fund.

Called the Argyll and Bute Council Supporting Communities Fund, this has been set up to finance groups that aim to help people living in the town and wider borough. That can include a focus on improving health outcomes through creative projects, tackling issues relating to the environment, supporting individuals and businesses in recovery efforts post-Covid-19 and creating jobs for people.

Organisations that apply for funding through it can be awarded grants that are worth a maximum of £2,500. Speaking to the Helensburgh Advertiser, Alastair Redman from Argyll and Bute Council said:
“Across Argyll and Bute, we have dedicated active communities who help bring people together, look after each other and improve the place where they live. Since its launch in 2015, the Supporting Communities Fund continues to help hundreds of groups.”

There are also other services within the town that can assist community groups. They include Helensburgh shops that supply promotional Pens and similar items that can help in getting the word out.

Redman concluded by stating that any organisation that meets the eligibility criteria should put in an application for a grant from the fund.

Applications opened this month and the closing date for them is Monday, 18 March.
