Having had the Invictus Games in Florida during May, the Paralympic Games in Rio last month, lets head to the exotic location of Clydebank where disability sport has increased massively, even before the success of the likes of Hanah Dines from just outwith the area.
The overseeing body is Scottish Disability Sport and they say that this area has seen almost a 300% increase in participation numbers from school pupils alone. This covers all sports including the fairly new but very successful football team the Fortune Flyers. Having been set up only three years ago they have achieved promotion to the top league as well as winning a national cup too. The football is organised with options for 5 a sides as well as ladies teams.
Table tennis is another sport that is doing well with a local being the Scottish champion last year as well as being World number 5 in their age category.
With the advent of disability sport being prime time TV these days and the names of the competitors being well known, there is no better time for locals with disabilities to look out for a club, or for parents to find something attractive sports-wise for their children - they will gain confidence and for the top few, fame!
Sports Clubs can use local printers to promote their activities using leaflets and Flyers.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
