Clydebank Health Board Warning

A warning has been issued to Clydebank residents by the local Health Board.  They are being urged to both avoid drinking excess alcohol and also to look out for each other and help others stay safe.

With the Festive Season now upon us, many people will be drinking whether at home or on a workplace night out and it is easy for someone to consume far more than they usually do and more than their body can cope with.  It is vital for both their health and safety that they do not over consume alcohol, but also that they watch out for family, friends and colleagues who have and may be vulnerable.

Alcohol and cold weather are poor bed-fellows too and although many think that alcohol can warm you up, in fact it does the opposite – leaving you at risk of hypothermia.

One good tip is to alternate between a soft drink and an alcoholic one as this helps keep the alcohol intake down and also keeps the body better hydrated.  Another tip is to keep money aside for a taxi home.

For too many the trip that could have been by taxi, will be by ambulance, police car or worst of all, a hearse.  Hopefully a fun and good time will be safely had by all Clydebank people this Christmas.

Health Boards can use local printers to get across this important message to locals by having them Print up informative leaflets detailing what can go wrong as well as including some good tips.
