Charity firewalk to take place in Helensburgh
Residents of Helensburgh are being called upon to hot foot it to a local venue later this year, so that they can take part in a fiery charity fundraising event.
Scottish Huntingdon’s Association has announced that it will be hosting a charity firewalk in the town. This is an event where those taking part have to walk across burning hot coals in their bare feet. The activity is being put together to help raise money towards research into Huntingdon’s disease and it will be the first of its kind for Helensburgh.
The venue for the event is set to be Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre and it is open to anyone able to walk at average speed for 10 paces and who is 18 years old or over. Charity fundraising events in the town sometimes rely on flyer printing from Helensburgh shops when seeking to publicise them.
Those who sign up to take part will be given an hour and a half to prepare themselves for facing – or rather footing – the hot coals. This period will be about getting the confidence needed for the activity.
The cost for signing up is £25 and participants must commit to raising £125 minimum towards the cause. Huntingdon’s is a disease that leads to brain damage.
It will be held on 8th March.
