Championship chance for cheerleaders from Helensburgh

A group of young girls who train at a dance studio in Helensburgh have the chance to represent their country in an international competition.

Kirsty Williamson, who is aged 17, 14-year-old Eva Campbell and Ellie Lewis, 12, are all pupils at Hermitage Academy as well as students at Studio 30 dance school. They will be representing Scotland in the World Cheerleading Championships held in Florida next spring, making them the first youngsters from the Argyll and Bute area to achieve this honour.

Speaking to the Helensburgh Advertiser, Leanne Wrench, who is the head coach of all three girls and owner of the dance studio, said that making it to these championships is what all those who compete dream of achieving.

The three will be in the running for gold, silver and bronze for the team categories, while Kirsty will also compete for the senior hip hop medal, Eva for the senior jazz and junior pom medals and Ellie for the junior hip hop one. People often use banner printing services so they can show their support for those competing at the tournament.

Wrench went on to state:

“I couldn’t be more proud of the girls’ achievements. Hundreds of athletes auditioned and it was amazing to have some picked to represent our country in what they love best.”

The tournament takes place next April.
