Bad news for Balloch commuters as engineering works at Glasgow Queen Street continue, the knock on effect for trains ending at Balloch Station is that less than a third of them arrive on time. March was a particularly poor month with only 27.6% of trains ending their journey at Balloch being there as scheduled. April was not as bad with the figure being 29.8%.
The train operators said that the target they aim for nationally is 92.7% and that Balloch’s figures are so poor due to the small number of trains running there. Helensburgh’s main station, Central, was less than 45% in March.
The works at Queen Street are on-going and whilst the operators say this is a very poor performance, they do aim to do better. They also said some of the blame fo such poor timekeeping was due to the Forth Road Bridge closure which drove a lot more traffic onto the railways.
