The bad weather did mean that the original Plans for this event had to undergo some last-minute scaling back, but there was still plenty on offer to help get people into the Christmas mood.
The ever-popular ice rink was once more available, allowing families to skate together, while many more opted to have festive-themed photos taken within the huge snow globe.
Those events scheduled to take place in the Tower Digital Arts Centre – which included shows by the Neptune Voluntary Band and the Military Wives Choir – also survived the weather.
Children were well catered for throughout, with a Santa’s Grotto, guest appearances by characters from the Ayrshire Reindeer and Frozen, and the Santa Dash – where Father Christmases ran through the streets.
Helensburgh and District Round Table member Robert Doherty told the Helensburgh Advertiser that:
“Overall we had over 250 Santas braving the elements to come and take part. We had a reasonable break from the worst of it, so spirits were high and everyone seemed to have a really good time.”
