Liverpool-born Rebecca Ferguson competed in the 2010 series of the popular talent show, where she finished in second place, but she has subsequently gone on to carve out a career in the music industry.
Having recorded two successful albums, called Heaven and Freedom respectively, Ferguson recently released Lady Sings the Blues, where she performs Billie Holiday songs accompanied by jazz musicians.
Big Summer Sounds is a one-day outdoor festival with a focus on jazz and folk music, making it the ideal place for the singer to debut her new sound, and the organisers will be able to use flyer printing in Watford to help promote it.
The head of play and culture for Watford Borough Council, Gary Oliver, told the Watford Observer:
“We’re delighted that such a massive talent like Rebecca Ferguson is coming to Watford to kick off our new Big Events.”
He went on to add that the event would provide music fans living in the town with a fantastic opportunity to see a popular artist perform at no cost, before stating that the music festival showcased national and local musicians.
The Big Summer Sounds festival takes place at The Parade on May 17th.
