The town’s Colosseum venue will be hosting an exhibition to mark the 20-year anniversary of the group’s debut hit, Wannabe, which was originally released back in 1996.
Called Spiceworld: The Exhibition, it will tell the tale of how the five members of the group – nicknamed Ginger, Posh, Scary, Baby and Sporty – went on to achieve success around the world.
Ultimately they became the top selling girl band in musical history and the exhibits for the show are being supplied by memorabilia collector and fan Liz West.
Speaking to a reporter from Get Bucks, she said:
“It seems very fitting for the collection to be in Geri’s home town in this important anniversary year. I hope visitors enjoy getting up close to these amazing handmade couture outfits worn by the girls in their 90s heyday!”
As with other exhibitions that are held within the town, the organisers of this one will have the option of using poster printing in Watford to help advertise it nearer the time.
The exhibition will be sponsored by CitiPark, and this company will also be supplying VIP and event parking, via its Gade Car Park facility. It is due to open on Thursday the 7th of July and will run for a month.
