Watford gets support from government

The government has allocated funding to help Watford bounce back.

Over £80,000 of public investment has been given to Watford to assist its recovery from disruption related to the pandemic. The resources from the ‘Welcome Back Fund’ should promote local economic development. Flyer printing is often helpful when communicating updates for developments like this.

Robert Jenrick, the Communities Secretary, has explained that the money will be beneficial for enterprise. It should facilitate business as usual on the high street. The cash could be spent on green spaces, outdoor seating and food stalls. Mr Jenrick stated:

“Our Welcome Back Fund gives every city, town and high street support to prepare for a great summer. This funding will help councils and businesses to welcome shoppers, diners and tourists back safely.”

Mr Jenrick pointed out that it has been important to follow the roadmap out of the lockdown. He underlined his commitment to local businesses and gave a special mention to the hospitality sector.

Councils do have a considerable amount of discretion about how they spend their portion of the Welcome Back Fund. Local authorities could well decide to spend the cash on graffiti reduction or publicity campaigns. It is also possible that they will invest in additional health and safety Signs to encourage social distancing.
