Starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sister Act was a box office hit recognised as one of the most successful comedies of the decade, spawning a sequel.
Now Watford residents will be treated to a stage version of the musical, brought to life by Motown-inspired songs and original music by Alan Menken, the eight-time Oscar winner. Setting the scene, the organisers say:
“This heavenly musical is joyous and uplifting in equal measures. A musical sent from above, Sister Act is the brilliant, must-see show which raises the spirits and warms the soul time after time.”
For those unfamiliar with the plot, Deloris is a disco diva whose life takes a turn after she witnesses a murder. Deloris is placed under protective custody, hidden in a convent for her safety.
That’s when Deloris is encouraged to help the faltering choir, and guides her sisters in finding their talented voices while she rediscovers the captivating tones of her own.
Banner printing can be used to provide on-stage backdrops for theatre productions such as musicals.
Sister Act the Musical runs at the Pump House Theatre from Friday, 19th to Saturday, 27th January. Evening performances start at 7.30pm and continue to 11pm. Tickets start at £7 and are available online.
